MASTERY

At the top of the Maslow’s pyramid is seated the idea of “Self-Actualization,” which (for some) is considered synonymous with the term enlightenment—or a state of being born out of unlimited compassion and boundless wisdom. Although, enlightenment is an attractive state of mind to attain— and a pyramid suggests that getting there is just a matter of climbing a mountain—it is not as simple as strapping on gear and heading to Mount Everest. For the purpose of summiting this particular mountain, let’s consider the idea that Mastery is actually every human’s natural state of being and that all the steps that lead to this place are just varying levels of opaque veils that have prevented us from recognizing our true nature. The truth is, if we seek to be balanced in each of our unfolding moments, we are then truly masterful.
